Visit and concert by John Marcus, violinist and Juilliard alumnus

As part of the newly introduced Juilliard Programme, Collège Champittet had the pleasure of welcoming John Marcus, a violinist and Juilliard alumnus, to give several masterclasses, as well as a concert on Thursday, February 9th. John Marcus, a well-travelled chamber musician, completed both his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Juilliard School in New York.

During the afternoon, 5 Champittet students were able to work with John Marcus in a one-on-one masterclass. He gave the students advice about their technique, and showed them how to play more effectively with accompaniment and improve their musical performance.

That same evening several students took the stage with John Marcus to perform the pieces that they had rehearsed. During the second part of the concert the violinist played various pieces by Mozart and Dvorak. The enjoyable, musical evening concluded with an aperitif in Café 1903.
