While 70% of our students are locals and most are native French speakers, our international community offers our local private school a global outlook with their own languages, cultures and experiences to enrich our community. We provide special care to help them develop their French language skills to ensure they thrive in our school.
The French foreign language programme (Français Langue Etrangère - FLE) offers enhanced language development for those for who are not fluent in French.
Since the primary language of our private school is French, it is important that students are supported to develop their French language skills. Some students arrive here with little experience of conversing in French, and through our support we rapidly develop those skills to ensure they gain the fullest benefit from our curriculum and can integrate into the school community.
The FLE Programme offers two routes for students:
- Those who follow FLE classes (the full FLE programme). These are in groups of 8-10 students and they follow a specific curriculum for their needs.
- Those who attend normal classes and who swap some periods of study for FLE classes instead to help them accelerate their learning.
The need to attend the FLE programme is discussed with parents during the admissions process and the best approach agreed for each child.
