The International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma) is an internationally respected qualification, recognised by universities around the world and particularly well regarded in the United Kingdom and United States. The IB diploma is delivered in English only, except for language subjects. Students must therefore be fluent in English to complete this diploma.
Students are able to choose the subjects that they study within defined parameters of the programme. Studying 6 subjects in total, this must include languages, social studies, experimental sciences and mathematics. Arts subjects are optional and can be substituted by another language, science or social study subject.
The IB diploma places particular emphasis on a skills-based approach to learning and the application of knowledge. Students are therefore also assessed according to a portfolio of activities that they must complete:
- The extended essay of 4,000 words;
- The “Theory of knowledge” class;
- Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) programme
