Secondary Parent Coffee
Thank you to our Secondary parents who attended our first monthly "coffee". The intent was to have parents come together to chat with us in Secondary, ask questions and get to know each other more. Our intent is to have one of these "coffees" after each LFA meeting. We will send out a theme in advance as well. If you have questions or suggestions, please contact Mrs Florence Braun, our Secondary Parent Coordinator, or Mrs Mindorff, IB Diploma Coordinator/University Counsellor.
Parent Expertise: Sharing your work to help our students find their passions
We will be sending out a survey of parents who would be willing to share their career experience with our students in a careers panel event in the New Year. We are looking for parents who are willing to speak to our students about their careers to help our students understand the possibilities that exist in the world of work. Please contact Mrs Mindorff, IB Diploma Coordinator/University Counsellor (email@example.com), if you would be willing to volunteer. We will send a survey out before the holiday too.
LIS, working with our Léman Family Association, offers a Parent Academy. The purpose of this is to help parents address parenting issues and become full partners in their children's success in school and in life. We aim to share best practice from the educational and well-being perspectives and to help parents share their knowledge and experience with each other.
We plan to offer four sessions through out the year.
The first session on November 14th, was on the topic of communication: with your children, with the school/teachers and among children. Please see the PPT Mrs Mindorff presented. It is linked here. We were so please to see so many of parents in attendance and so many reaching our to our School Social/Emotional Counsellor, Ms Kusmierski!
Our next session will take place in January on the topic of Digital Citizenship-how to navigate the online world for parents. This will led by Ms Cynthia Reneau, our Director of Technology, who is a published author on the topic.
Contact Mrs Mindorff (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have questions, suggestions for topics OR if you can offer to run a session and share your expertise.
