Staff prepare to welcome 170 new students to school

17 August 2015

Almost 170 students from local, ex-pat and overseas families have chosen to join Regents for the 2015-16 academic year. Our new ‘cohort’ includes children from 25 different countries, both boarders and day students, boys and girls aged from 2.5 to 17 years old.

Our international community – at any given time there are some 50 different nationalities represented at the school – will be boosted by new students from Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Britain, Canada, China, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Holland, Iceland, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, and USA.

“We predicted this high level of demand for places,” explained Head of Admissions, Tim Eaton, “and as a result we had time to put in place measures which would allow us to meet parents’ needs and at the same time keep class sizes at the correct level.”

The measures include building four new classrooms and expanding to five classes in Years 1, 2, 5 and 6. The capacity of the Early Primary dining room has been increased and the creation of dedicated science and art & design zones in Primary School provides students with far more free-flow between specialist teaching areas.

New students are invited to an induction morning at school on Monday 31 August, with the first full day for all students taking place on Tuesday 1 September. Details of the induction morning and other useful information about the start of term can be found here.
