Last month, Year 12 Regents students Young Seo and Lucy took their video editing skills to the next level, winning the Grand Prize and the President of the National Council of Youth Organization in Korea Award for their entry in the 12th IFRUVIC video contest.
The video entries for the contest were assessed by a panel of judges made up of film directors, media artists, authors, university professors and most impressively, the CEO of the Seoul Independent Film Festival.
Competing against other 13-18 year olds, the pair worked together to produce a 5 minute video highlighting the theme of Peace and Humanism, with a focus on diversity and community. Just before the December break, Young Seo and Lucy set out to interview and film students and teachers within the Secondary School for their personal definition of peace.
Young Seo credits her success to the help and support that she received from her peers and teachers, as well as her enjoyment in editing and directing videos, a passion that developed all the way back from when she was in Primary School.
“We had a week to film with the teachers and students and they were very cooperative and positive throughout the entire process. I am very grateful for their help.”
