Parent Association (APEC)

All Collège Champittet parents are welcome to participate in their own active community — the Association of Parents of Pupils of Champittet (APEC).

This Parents Association consists of a group of engaged parents committed to cultivating the best school environment for their children. Our experienced staff, faculty and administration are already hard at work creating the finest academic experience for each student. Our Parents Association takes this vision one step further, fostering an open, warm and engaging community.

The APEC Committee Structure

APEC is comprised of a group of active parents who serve as the link between Champittet families and our school. They enliven our school spirit by serving as the friendly face welcoming new families and the parental figures supporting school events. APEC further facilitates communication among Champittet parents, teachers and school management.

Our committee, comprised of volunteer members elected by the General Assembly, meets approximately once a month. During this meeting, they organise school events, suggest and vote on changes and discuss the latest school changes. This committee includes a president, secretary, treasurer, primary and secondary delegates, and several active members.

APEC deeply values the mission and spirit of Collège Champittet and sees its role as a figure of support and communication. Members of the committee are committed to encouraging teachers, promoting school events and supporting parents.

The Parents Association Commitment to Community

At its core, APEC is a group of parents committed to bettering our community. This committee communicates directly with every area of the school, including:

  • Management: APEC has an open dialogue with management, meeting quarterly to discuss school projects and communicate their objectives.
  • Faculty: APEC meets regularly with school professors to listen to their valuable input and share any concerns or ideas.
  • Parents: APEC shares a common language with parents, allowing them to gather any thoughts or concerns and communicate these to management via a team of delegates. They also produce a regular newspaper, APEC-NEWS, to keep parents informed and engaged with the latest news.
  • Students: As parents, this association is committed to supporting our children in every aspect of their school lives. This includes advocating for school values and supporting student events, from fine arts performances to sports games.

APEC Events and Accomplishments

Our Parents Association stays busy with fundraising and social events throughout the year. These versatile occasions are designed to keep our community active, connected and exciting. While our schedule varies from year to year, members can expect to enjoy traditional events such as:

  • Guided city tours of Lausanne: A local introduction for newcomers and a social activity for longtime residents
  • Hosted welcome events: At the beginning of the school year, APEC welcomes new Champittet families through an integration programme and social event
  • Annual Christmas baskets: APEC organises a yearly thank you to Champittet staff in the form of a holiday gift basket
  • General meetings and assemblies: These organised events allow us to discuss school changes and budgets, as well as meet new members alongside a wine and cheese menu
