Final Message From Principal Dear Parents Thank you for another wonderful and productive school year. I can’t thank everyone enough for their endless hours of volunteering, chaperoning, reading, organising, donating and doing whatever was necessary to support students—both at home and at school.

Dear Parents,

Thank you for another wonderful and productive school year. I can’t thank everyone enough for their endless hours of volunteering, chaperoning, reading, organising, donating and doing whatever was necessary to support students—both at home and at school.

BST’s vision is to:

·       Support every child to love learning and achieve more than they ever thought possible.

·       Promote traditional British values delivered in an international context.

·       Think beyond traditional education to transform learning to a student centred approach.

·       Educate every child to be an active, independent learner who seeks knowledge.

·       Provide engaging and inviting learning environments, ensuring every child will enjoy coming to school.

Throughout the 2021/2022 Academic Year the staff implemented our rigorous, international curriculum to support all students develop their individual skills and talents. We empowered our students with leadership and life skills needed for the 21st century. Especially this year staff at BST were committed to our students, our families and our community in the aftermath of the pandemic. Without the endless energy, skills and devotion of the staff, both academic and support, none of this would have been possible. Thanks, and well done to an incredible group of professionals.

As part of Nord Anglia, we were once again fortunate to have collaborations with Juilliard, MIT and UNICEF. These collaborations benefited all our students, who could participate in international events, had access to resources and connected with other students from around the world. The Global Campus and Nord Anglia University both remain unique to Nord Anglia and aimed once again to develop and support our students and staff. For the first time since the pandemic, students will have an international trip to Germany, in June, to participate in an international STEAM competition.

Several of our students also participated and even hosted MUN events. I was so proud of them, when I witnessed their confidence, knowledge and research skills. It came as no surprise, when several of our students won “Best Delegate” and “Best Speaker” awards.

This year, many students developed their creative skills with the help of The Creative and Performing Arts Department. Performances that were a real highlight this year included “We Will Rock You” and “The Nutcracker” performed by our secondary, EYFS and KS1 students respectively. The KS2 and Secondary Winter and Summer Concerts, the choirs and “Funkadelic Orchestra” also performed several times and made me so proud. Some of the global events were still virtual eg. Virtual Brass Band, Virtual Music Competitions etc. yet our staff and students embraced these and made BST proud.

The PE department also had a very successful year, and our students had the opportunity to participate in many features and competitions against other schools in Tashkent. Our students’ behaviour was always exemplary and although they won countless medals and trophies they were most importantly, excellent ambassadors for our school and displayed outstanding sportsmanship, whether they won or not. Emails from other Principals within Tashkent regarding our students’ explanatory behaviour made me so proud.

BST was once again part of the Share-a-Dream initiative and our staff, students and parents have raised a lot of money for various charitable organisations including the Children’s Cancer Hospital, Ezgu Amal and the animal shelter throughout the year. Events included the Cancer Walk, Chess Tournament, Summer and Winter Fairs and International Day, to mention but a few. I especially want to thank all our students and parents who were always willing to contribute and support the less fortunate in our community. The staff who gave up their time outside normal school hours also need a round of applause.

In addition to all the events and support from staff, BST was extremely privileged to have an active Parent Teacher and Friends Association, who provided support to our learning community and helped plan most of the activities throughout the year. I wanted to extend a special thanks to them, who as usual, went above and beyond the call of duty to support the school and community. The highlight of the year was the Parent’s Quiz Night, an event that will from now on be on our annual events calendar. I believe that in working collaboratively with our parents, we can aim to provide for each child’s needs, an ongoing challenge in our ever-changing world.

Our students have achieved success in many diverse areas as previously mentioned. Every one of them consistently demonstrated hard work and determination. Despite their many attributes, there were two qualities that our students had to demonstrate these past two years: adaptability and perseverance. These skills were definitely put to the test. Whether the students exceled in or faced challenges in the classroom, on the sports field or on stage, instead of giving up, getting down, or becoming complacent, our students adapted and persevered.

Principal.
