It has been wonderful to see, through regular updates, our Year 7 to Year 10 students out and about in various locations enjoying their expeditions. We strongly believe, as a school, that  the “whole development” of a child  is very important and our focus is definitely  not just on academic achievement. Our students and staff on these expeditions have been a credit to the school through their behaviour and by getting involved in various community projects related to such things as farming and supporting those less fortunate than ourselves.

Years 11, 12 and 13 have remained in school to have normal lessons in preparation for their examinations later in the year. Indeed, Year 12 students have been busy on various projects relating  to their IBDP studies. Additionally, on Wednesday, Year 11 parents and students attended a IBDP Options Fair where they were given information and details about the IB Diploma which they will be doing next year.

In Primary, on Thursday afternoon, it was a pleasure to attend and observe work that Year 5 have done in their IPC topic ‘Myths and Legends’. It was even more special as parents had been invited to share the afternoon with their children and it was wonderful to see so many  attend. This week, I was involved with teaching Primary PE due to the absence of our  sports staff who were away on Secondary expeditions. It was such a pleasure to be directly involved in teaching our wonderful students again as I do miss regular teaching due to my Principal’s role. There is no doubt that Year 1 students have now perfected the art of doing a ‘Pencil Roll’!

On Monday it was an honour to welcome Le Van Cong to the school as the first ever Vietnamese  Paralympian Gold medalist. Le Van Cong spent time with different groups of students outlining his life and career as well as answering some outstanding questions. There was also lots of photograph opportunities for the students with Le Van Cong and the actual Gold Medal. Thank you Le Van Cong you were an inspiration to us all.
