BIS Hanoi students achieve exceptional IB results, continuing a strong tradition of academic excellence

BIS Hanoi students achieve exceptional IB results, continuing a strong tradition of academic excellence - BIS Hanoi students achieve exceptional IB results 2025
Our Class of 2025 at the British International School Hanoi is celebrating another year of outstanding success in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) for the 2024/25 academic year.

With an impressive average point score of 33.24, well above the global average of 30.58, BIS Hanoi continues to uphold its long-standing tradition of academic excellence. This marks the eighth consecutive year that our students have outperformed global averages.

In addition, 9.7% of students achieved scores above 40 points, a remarkable accomplishment that highlights the school’s commitment to academic rigour and student success. Our top scorer achieved an impressive 44 out of a possible 45 points on the exam.

Equally notable, 63% of the cohort earned the prestigious Bilingual Diploma (BD), demonstrating first-language proficiency in two languages. This result reflects BIS Hanoi’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and multilingual learning environment, where students are supported in developing their native languages alongside English.

Mr. Richard Vaughan, Principal at BIS Hanoi, shared: “We are immensely proud of our students’ remarkable achievements in this year’s IBDP results. Their success is a true testament to their resilience, ambition, and hard work throughout the academic year. I would also like to thank our exceptional teaching staff, whose support and dedication made these outcomes possible.”

Graduates heading to top global universities

Thanks to their strong academic performance and the personalised university guidance they receive, BIS Hanoi graduates have received over 150 offers from some of the world’s most prestigious universities. Students from the Class of 2025 will be joining top institutions such as University College London (UCL), the University of Edinburgh, King’s College London in the United Kingdom, Boston University in the United States, the University of Sydney in Australia, the University of Hong Kong, and Waseda University in Japan. These offers reflect not only the academic excellence of our students but also the breadth of their talents, interests, and global outlook, hallmarks of a BIS Hanoi education.

A memorable graduation ceremony

The accomplishments of the Class of 2025 were honoured during a heartfelt graduation ceremony held in May, bringing together students, families, and staff to celebrate this important milestone. The event welcomed special guests, including British Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Iain Frew, and BIS Hanoi alumna Heidy Cho, who addressed the graduating class with messages of encouragement, admiration, and practical advice for the journey ahead. Students reflected on their time at BIS Hanoi and expressed gratitude to their teachers, peers, and families for their support throughout the years. The ceremony concluded with a joyful cap toss, symbolising both the end of a chapter and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead. For many, it was not only a farewell to BIS Hanoi but also a launchpad to a global future.
