Year 5's new IPC entry point took us back to 26th April 1940 when England was at war and mothers were persuaded by the government to send their children to safer rural areas.
This new topic will lead us through the past where we visit major conflicts around the world, starting with Europe. Our re-enactment of children being sent to the countryside gave our own students 77 years after the Second World War the opportunity to understand what it was like to be sent away and be able to explain how their lives were different to ours.
During 5S' assembly, the children sang the famous World War Two song, 'Run, Rabbit Run', while acting out a few scenes to show what life was like while reading some of their own diary extracts as evacuees.
