BIS Hanoi Secondary Production 2020 - HERO

Secondary Production: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

This week saw three performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by students from across the Secondary School, bringing together musicians, actors, technicians and managers to give life to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous musical.

Our first performance to a full audience was a particularly special one. On Wednesday morning the entire Primary School, from Foundation Stage to Year 6, came to the Auditorium to watch our Dress Rehearsal. They were a fantastic audience and it was a pleasure to share the show with them all.

The cast, crew and orchestra have been busy preparing Joseph since early September when auditions were held. The commitment shown by the students involved has been very impressive; attending rehearsals twice a week, practicing at home and even coming into school on a Sunday for a full tech rehearsal!

The dedication and creativity that every student has brought to their role has impressed the Performing Arts team and we have been particularly struck by how supportive students have been of each other, making friends beyond their usual classes and coming together as a team to make Joseph happen.

If you were lucky enough to watch this week’s production, you will have seen dancing camels, a rock ‘n’ roll Pharaoh and of course, Joseph’s famous coat. You will also have heard our extremely talented student orchestra and experienced visual and audio effects envisioned and realised by our prop, set, sound and lighting teams.

Thank you very much to all of the adults who freely gave up their time to ensure the success of this week’s production, we couldn’t have done it without you. Our thanks also go to all of the students who gave so much to this show, to their families and the school community for coming out in force to support the evening performances.

It is not long after the curtain falls on a musical production that we begin planning for the next one! We hope to see many of you in the sound and lighting booth, behind a music stand, on stage or cheering from your seat for our next large scale performance.
