What a fantastic week we have had in Phase 3

Teachers from Year 5 and 6 have been in school planning and teaching lessons online as well as providing personalised feedback to their students on a daily basis.

Each class has been meeting with their teacher and teaching assistant in the mornings before completing their online work via Google Classroom and Google Meet. The work submitted has been of an exceptionally high standard and the teachers have enjoyed marking and discussing next steps with the students.

In Year 5, the students have been working on key grammar rules for English, including articles and verb tenses, as well as researching their new topic on space exploration and the solar system. To help the students with their understanding, teachers have started to record and put together an online library of skills videos that the children can access and use out of school at any time.

In Year 6, the students have been revising 2D and 3D shapes in Maths as well as perfecting their use of long division. Meanwhile, the students have been exploring global issues and different countries and cultures by reading the non-fiction text This Is How We Do It. This, along with writing opportunities that include the use of main and subordinate clauses, has seen classes continue to practise their English in speaking and listening.

A massive thank you to our parents for your support at home, we know this home-learning has provided some new challenges for your as well. The strength of our home-school partnerships are a real positive at such a tricky time. It has been an absolute pleasure to see how the students, teachers and parents have worked together, to ensure that students continue to make progress as they study off site.
