Secondary School Updates (7 January 2022)

Weekly update from Head of Secondary

Dear Parents,

Let me take this opportunity to welcome you to 2022 and say ‘Happy New Year’ on behalf of the BIS Hanoi Secondary School. I trust this email finds you well rested after an enjoyable holiday period.

This week we commence a short 4-week block of lessons prior to the Tet holiday. On Tuesday 4 January teachers joined together for a professional learning day. Key foci for the Secondary School included a review of virtual learning and the next steps each teaching team will be taking to enhance the learning experience for students. Teachers also engaged in a session deepening their understanding of academic integrity.

For our students, online learning began again in earnest on Wednesday, and on Thursday Year 11 and 13s started their Trial Examinations, which traditionally always occur at this time of year. For exam students this is highly valuable practice to prepare them for their final IGCSE and IB examinations.

We are very grateful for the continued effort and engagement from all students, and indeed also for the support that parents are providing. As always, please stay in touch with us should you have any questions or problems with learning. We are greatly looking forward to the weeks and term ahead.

Yours sincerely,

Chris Newman

Head of Secondary
