Mr Nicholas West Weekly Update 2nd October: Grandparents' Day

02 October 2015

What an incredible opportunity we had on Thursday to welcome over 60 grandparents to celebrate our first ever Grandparents’ Day at BVIS Hanoi.

  • Grandparents Day BVIS 2015 (5)
  • Grandparents Day BVIS 2015 (2)

Every year since 1991, the United Nations has designated October 1st as International Day of Older Persons. Their organization had recognized that by 2050 there will be more people over the age of 60 than there are children in the world. People are living longer lives for many reasons but one thing they all recognize is the importance of a good education. Their grandchildren are the future of Vietnam and it is our privilege that they have chosen BVIS Hanoi as the place to provide this for them.

Yesterday we wanted to say thank you to our grandparents for the contributions they are making to our community. They are a very big and vital part of the children’s lives.  Our grandparents are important and through our education in school and at home, we learn to respect our family members. In time, these grandchildren will be looking after and providing for the world’s grandparents and in their own way saying “Thank you”.

Thank you so much to all who attended. We hope you had a truly special time and created some new memories with your grandchildren to share together in the future. We really appreciate all the contributions you make to your family and our children. Have a lovely weekend.

Mr Nicholas West – Head of Primary
