Year 9 students have been exploring the issue of plastic pollution through a range of creative and informative projects. Working independently or in small groups, students chose from formats including magazines, podcasts, documentaries, and even music lyric videos to communicate their ideas.
Each project focuses on raising awareness of plastic pollution by investigating its main causes, such as single-use plastics and consumer habits, as well as its environmental and social impacts. Students highlighted how plastic waste affects oceans, wildlife, and human health, using real-world examples to engage their audience.
Importantly, the projects also emphasise solutions. Students proposed practical actions individuals, communities, and governments can take, from reducing plastic use and improving recycling to supporting sustainable alternatives. The variety of formats has allowed students to develop both subject knowledge and communication skills, resulting in a collection of engaging and thought-provoking work that inspires positive change.
