On Monday, all of KS2 (Years 3-6) enjoyed their first Sports’ Day in the new Primary Sports Hall. Thank you to Mr. Brookfield who organized such a great event where participation and enjoyment were the most important factors along with displays of outstanding sportsmanship. There are so many children we could mention for this, children like Dinh Thien, Minh Chau, and Hyun Jin, all in Year 4, who actually stopped whilst in a potentially winning position to complete the events correctly. This displays my favourite personal quality, that of integrity. These children have not only learnt the right thing to do, but are actually doing the right thing. This attribute will help them be respected and allow them to be top future leaders in their chosen field. Through events such as Sports’ Day, we are able to nurture and celebrate these qualities within your children and the values of the school in our Aide Memoire can be seen in evidence through your children every single day; you should be very proud.
Sport, personal opportunity and development are definitely the focus this week as we have a momentous occasion happening this weekend. As you read this, 24 children, 3 staff and 26 parent supporters and family members will be in Pattaya, Thailand, representing our school at the Nord Anglia Regional Games. This is BVIS Hanoi’s first international trip and we are extremely excited about this prospect. As our links within Nord Anglia and FOBISIA grow, opportunities like this will also increase for your children. They are events of huge benefit on so many levels including the use of English as a common language and meeting new friends from other countries, so becoming more global and being internationally-minded is a must.
They will participate in two events over the weekend, basketball and T-ball, which the children have been practicing for a number of weeks during PE and as an extra training session each Wednesday. I am confident the children will learn so much from this experience and we look forward to sharing more information next week about this. Come on, BVIS!
Have a wonderful weekend.
