Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.
Science Week 2018
This has been a tremendous week in the British Vietnamese International School. We have been following the same time frame as the British Science Week, and therefore there has been a flurry of activity all the way through the school, from Early Years to Secondary. There is a growing passion for Science. There is certainly a great need and those who want to own and run their own businesses in the future would do well to combine this essential aspect of development with business management.
Talking to one parent this week, he stated how much he enjoyed the Western teaching style, encapsulated by this wonderful, and well-known, quotation by Benjamin Franklin. Exploration is the key feature – helping students to develop a sense of wonder. The skilled teacher engages students in learning through meaningful dialogue and enquiry, and the student learns without them even realising it – just being caught up in the moment.
Seeing the students this week, and talking to them, has shown that many have been in that moment. It is a joy to see, and my thanks to all who have been involved in making it a special and inspiring week.
