Dear Parents,
Our final Parent Teacher Conferences for this academic year were held during this week and we were delighted to meet you all. Although these were the last of our formal conferences, your children’s class teachers are happy to discuss the progress of your children at any time.
It was a great week of performance for many of our Primary musicians. Learning music, dance and drama has wide-reaching benefits for our students, providing them with the tools to think creatively, innovate, and appreciate diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Over the last five weeks, our Secondary students have been teaching a select group of our Year 4 children how to play an instrument of their choice. During our ‘In2Music’ event this week, we were able to hear them play a short piece on their instrument; we had players on piano, guitar, ukulele, flute, violin, trombone and horn. The event presented a fantastic opportunity for them to experience the challenge of performance and we were all proud of their efforts.
Another group of our musicians spent three days working collaboratively with peers from other NAE schools across Southeast Asia as part of ‘The Nord Anglia Performing Arts Festival’. The Nord Anglia Performing Arts Festival is Nord Anglia Education’s first regional performing arts festival in collaboration with The Juilliard School in Southeast Asia. Hosted at The British International School in Hanoi, the children had the opportunity to experience working with top class musicians and in the process, ignite their passion and creativity through performance and other unique experiences. In addition, the students were able to engage and build relationships with each other, expanding their knowledge and passion for music through a series of workshops, rehearsals and performances. The festival culminated in a performance at the Grand Concert Hall of Vietnam National Academy of Music. We congratulate the children for their hard work and thank the staff involved for creating this fantastic opportunity.
It is hard to believe that next week is our last before we break up for the holiday. Please be aware that on Friday, the school day ends at 12.30pm.
Enjoy your weekend
