Primary Weekly Update (07/12-11/12)

Winter Festival 2020

‘Together Apart’

While we may have been unable to celebrate our International Winter Festival as per normal this year, we certainly did not let it stop us compiling some wonderful virtual performances.

Our theme ‘’Celebration of Countries and their Cultures’’ in conjunction with International Week, saw music from South America, Russia, Africa, Spain, Australia and more. We sang, we danced, we played musical instruments, and not only did we see this being carried out to a high standard, we had lots of fun in the process!

Broadcast to friends and family from Facebook live on December 4th, our visitors were able to see a multitude of performances. Year 6 sang beautifully, a rendition of a song based on a Russian Princess. Year 4 wowed us with their flamenco skills on their Ukuleles. Year 2 waltzed to an Australian classic. Year 5 performed a Thai lullaby on their recorders. Year 3 Danced to Waka Waka with amazing energy, and Year 1 sang arguably the catchiest festive favorite, Feliz Navidad in three languages.

Most impressive of all was our whole school rendition of ‘Walking in the Air’. Despite being unable to perform as a group, every single child in Primary contributed to this stunningly beautiful winter piece by Howard Blake, and it made for an emotional, beautiful, and nostalgic performance.
