Happy new year to you all!
I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas holiday break and are now looking forward to the new term.
The new year has started with the Year 13 students facing practice IGCSE and A Level exams. I know that most of them have been working hard over the Christmas holiday to prepare for them, and I wish them well as they continue them into next week. The ‘mock’ exams are designed to enable the students to experience the full papers similar to the ones they will sit in May and June - and to diagnose the areas they need to work on more carefully, ahead of the final exams.
In Key Stage 4 Geography, they are learning about the exciting topic of earthquakes and volcanoes! They will learn how and where they occur and study examples from across the world, including Indonesia, Japan, Chile and Haiti.
In Key Stage 3, Year 7 are beginning their topic on Africa. They will use their new geographical skills to create their own maps of the continent.
We are very pleased to welcome 3 new students (all year 7 students) into the immersion programme. They are off to a flying start and we can already see a burst in confidence from all three of them.
Also, congratulations to the following 8 students who have graduated the immersion programme and are now being further challenged in mainstream classes.
Trinh Tra My, Vu Huu Manh,
Dong Dai Loc
Nguyen Trung Thua Vu
Luong Diep Anh
Nguyen Duy Hung
Nguyen Xuan Nam
We wish them the best of luck in their English learning future adventures.
We are pleased to say that we will be participating in the upcoming FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools in Asia) Voices event. If you enjoy singing then please sign up to audition for this ECA which, will run in Term 2 (Signup sheets are in Reception).
Students who successfully audition will learn a song that has been specially commissioned for FOBISIA schools composed by award winning British composer Alexander L’Estrange. Students will learn and record the song in Term 2. This recording is then sent to FOBISIA and put together with other participating schools to create one large scale ‘virtual’ performance.
Auditions will took place on the 7th and 8th January and students will start working on this in their Monday ECA time.
