Olenka has had myriad experiences as an arts and museum educator, arts administrator, and practicing artist. Her teaching experience began in museums and galleries including The Art Institute of Chicago and The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Before joining BVIS, Olenka taught Primary and Secondary Visual Arts for the past 11 years in private schools in New York and Illinois. She has a keen interest in constructivist theory and visual literacy that inform her instructional approach in the classroom. Additionally, she seeks out opportunities to develop interdisciplinary connections to reinforce her students learning.
Olenka has a love for travel and enjoys learning about different cultures and their history. As an artist, she creates using various media including printmaking and jewelry making. Additionally, she enjoys Latin dancing, gardening and cooking.
