Northbridge International School Cambodia teachers and students have been using SeeSaw and Google classroom for their teaching and learning after making the move from classroom-based learning to remote learning. We continue to effectively use both platforms which have really supported our students as over the passing days and weeks, students really started to miss their classmates and friends.

To support students and parents in connecting students to their classmates and teachers, we introduced Google Hangout Meetings. These meetings are held for around 20 minutes every day as their “homeroom meeting” where teachers are able to explain further the lesson expectations for the day and students could ask questions or share their learnings. In addition to this, students also meet with their Specialists teachers once a week for a mini-lesson and check-ins. Meeting links on hangout meetings were sent to the students’ SeeSaw account.

Google Hangout Meetings is new to students and most parents. Students have been supported in learning how to navigate the app in order for them to use it properly. Commonly used tools or buttons are the microphones, leaving the call button and the video buttons. Students have learned how to communicate respectfully and effectively with the use of these buttons. Most teachers, especially in Early Learning, have been using Google Hangout buttons flashcards as visual support in reminding students when they need to mute, unmute or log off.

One feature of SeeSaw is the translation tools. Teachers and families can now translate SeeSaw content into different languages such as  Korean, Spanish, French, Chinese, German, Indonesian, Dutch, and Russian are only some of the over 55 languages available in the SeeSaw translation tool. If you have not tried it, watch the video on how it works in this link.

We look forward to seeing you all online in our virtual school experience!
