Dear Families,
A very warm welcome to Nord Anglia International School New York.
One of the things I value most about NAISNY is that every child is truly known. Our students arrive with different interests, personalities, strengths and ways of seeing the world. Our role is to understand each child as an individual and ensure they are supported, challenged and encouraged to discover what’s possible.
We have high expectations for our students, both academically and personally. Our small class sizes allow teachers to know their students exceptionally well: recognizing when a child is ready to be stretched further, when they need a different approach, and when they simply need the confidence to keep going with something difficult.
Success therefore looks different for every child. It might be mastering something they once found challenging, discovering a love of science, becoming absorbed in a book, performing on stage, finding their voice in the classroom or asking a question that takes learning in an entirely new direction. These individual moments matter because they are where genuine growth happens.
Our students’ experiences extend far beyond the classroom. As part of the Nord Anglia Education family of schools, they belong to a truly international community, with opportunities to collaborate with students around the world and participate in exceptional academic, sporting and arts experiences. Our collaborations with The Juilliard School, MIT and UNICEF further enrich learning across the performing arts, STEAM and global citizenship, giving our students the best of both worlds: the warmth and individual attention of a small learning community, with the possibilities of a truly global education.
At the same time, we are proudly a New York school. From our home in the Gramercy and Flatiron neighborhood, we make the most of the extraordinary opportunities our city provides. Whether exploring nature in our local parks or visiting the museums, galleries, cultural institutions and performances that make New York so vibrant, our students are encouraged to experience the city as an extension of the classroom. These experiences bring learning to life, helping students make meaningful connections between what they discover in school and the world beyond our doors.
Ultimately, one of the great strengths of NAISNY is the time and space it gives children to grow into confident, capable young people before taking that important next step to high school. We want our students to leave NAISNY with strong academic foundations, curiosity, resilience and a real sense of who they are, ready not simply for high school, but for the high school where they will thrive. Most importantly, we want them to leave ambitious for themselves, excited by what comes next and confident in what they can achieve.
That, to me, is what makes NAISNY special - it's where our children discover what's possible.
