This year was a record breaker...

Every year, books are collected at NAISR and donated to the "Read to Grow" organisation, a Dutch charity group which helps to increase literacy in developing countries around the world by providing schools with second-hand books. Once again, the NAISR community came together to join this wonderful cause.

Read To Grow believe that through education, developing countries can grow stronger and more self-sufficient. They believe in teaching people from developing countries to support and educate themselves through books. Read to Grow contributes to this philosophy by supporting small-scale projects with high quality English and French books.

In 2019, Read to Grow collected 105.500 books which were distributed to countries such as Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, Madagascar, Senegal, Nepal, Cambodia and The Philippines.

Covid-19 did not stop the collection of books in the Netherlands throughout 2020. To date 125.000 books have been collected and 75.000 already distributed! This is highly needed, as there is an even higher demand for books in Africa this year due to online learning not being an option for students there, as it is here in Europe and other continents around the globe.

The NAISR School Library and our full school community once again joined in on this mammoth effort to support such a great cause. This year, NAISR is proud to have donated a record breaking 48 boxes of books, mainly donated by parents, students and teachers.

A big THANK YOU to our community for their support with this organisation, to our school library for coordinating this book collection, and a special thanks to our Library volunteers, Clare and Barbara, for all of their efforts with packing books into boxes.
