On Saturday 30 November, our first ever Northbridge International School Cambodia Cross Country running team competed in the ISSAPP Cross Country meet held at ISPP. For many of our runners this was their first experience training for long-distance running, and they have made great progress over a short period of time.

The founding members of the cross country team have spent many early mornings and hot afternoons training on the Northbridge fields and on the weekend their hard work paid off with some outstanding results.

Our Senior Boys team came in 4th place overall, with Sotheanith leading our team with an impressive 4th place individual effort, followed by Saren, Pan, Andy, Panha and Cham, who all set new personal best times.

Our Senior Girls team placed 2nd overall, led by Nikko who finished in 10th position, followed by Tysing, Ahona and Shu. For some of our girls this was their first time running the 4.5km distance and they did a great job!

Our Junior Girls team came in 3rd place overall, which is particularly impressive considering they were a team formed at the very last minute. Porkim was the first runner home, closely followed by Kelly Ann.

Our Junior Boys team took on the challenge of running at a suitable pace and they supported each other in trying to ensure they did not set off too fast. Mengkheang came in 1st; despite his ongoing injury of shin splints.

The entire cross country team truly embodied many of the features which will help them in their school, and later life.

They accepted this new and daunting challenge with great determination and commitment. They trained and competed side by side, and the vocal support they gave pushed each other through moments of pain. They demonstrated dignity and humility, and are already looking ahead to the next event with enthusiasm to go a step further.

The cross country coaches, Ms Emma, Ms Philippa, Mr James and Mr Jack are all incredibly proud of our founding team and look forward to building our team and further success in the future.
