Primary Writing Lead
At Nord Anglia International School Phnom Penh (NISC), we believe that exceptional teaching leads to transformative learning. This semester, our educators have embarked on a school-wide review of our Primary Years Programme (PYP) writing curriculum, aiming to build a clear and connected progression of writing skills from Early Learning through Grade 5.
Collaborative Moderation to Enhance Writing Excellence
Last week, our teaching team came together for a whole-school writing moderation session. This valuable opportunity allowed teachers to share student work, align expectations, and reflect on writing development across age groups. These professional conversations are deepening our shared understanding of how writing evolves and how we can best support every learner.
Building a Consistent and Supportive Writing Framework
Through this collaborative process, our educators are now shaping a practical progression guide that will:
Support effective planning
Ensure continuity between grade levels
Clarify key writing skills and expectations
This initiative reflects our PYP philosophy that learning is a journey, and students thrive when supported by a consistent, reflective, and forward-thinking approach.
Empowering Young Communicators
Our shared goal is simple yet powerful: to nurture confident, creative, and reflective communicators who use writing to express their ideas, passions, and perspectives with clarity and purpose.
Partnering with Parents for Holistic Growth
As part of our commitment to Caring Hearts and Ambitious Minds, we will soon be inviting parents to share their insights and feedback. This partnership ensures our writing programme meets the needs of every learner and reflects the values of our vibrant school community.
Together, we are empowering students to find their voice and become articulate, thoughtful contributors to the world around them.
