At Northbridge International School Cambodia, technology is more than a classroom accessory—it is a catalyst for deeper learning, creativity, and real‑world problem‑solving. Across our Primary School, students use digital tools with purpose and intention, helping them express their understanding in meaningful, age‑appropriate ways. By integrating technology into the core curriculum, we empower children to think critically, collaborate effectively, and develop the future‑ready skills essential for an increasingly digital world.

Early Years: Building Foundations Through Creative Coding

In Kindergarten, students take their first steps into computational thinking using ScratchJr. By animating characters from their own stories, children learn to apply directional language and sequencing—key mathematical and early coding concepts. This playful yet purposeful activity strengthens spatial awareness and introduces problem‑solving in a way that feels natural and engaging for young learners.

Grade 1: Bringing Imagination to Life with AI Tools

Grade 1 students elevate their storytelling by animating their own drawings using Sketch Meta DemoLab, an AI-powered tool that transforms hand‑drawn characters into moving digital creations. This experience not only boosts narrative development but also builds confidence with emerging technologies. Students see their ideas come alive on screen, reinforcing both creativity and digital literacy.

Grade 5: Student‑Led Exploration Through Digital Inquiry

As part of their inquiry into Changemakers, Grade 5 students engaged with a wide range of digital tools—choosing the platforms that best supported their research and creative expression. This student‑driven approach encouraged independence, innovation, and thoughtful decision‑making.

Students explored tools such as:

  • Tiki-Toki to create an interactive timeline of Albert Einstein’s life

  • Stop Motion Factory to retell the history of King Suryavarman

  • iMovie with green-screen effects to produce dynamic videos

  • Sketchbook for animations and illustrations

  • CapCut to develop documentary‑style films

  • Book Creator to design comic books and informational texts

Through these choices, learners explored not just what they wanted to communicate, but how to communicate effectively for an audience—a key digital competency.

Expanding Innovation: A New 3D Printing Experience

Thanks to a generous Grade 5 parent donation, students have now begun working with a new 3D printer, opening the door to hands-on design, engineering, and problem‑solving. With this tool, learners can transform digital models into physical objects, strengthening spatial reasoning and iterative design skills.

Empowering Future-Ready Learners

Across the Primary School, both students and teachers at Northbridge demonstrate a strong commitment to using technology meaningfully and responsibly. By exploring a variety of tools and platforms, learners develop adaptability, creative thinking, and confidence—skills that will support them well into the future.

As we prepare children for a world shaped by automation and rapid technological change, these experiences help ensure every student is not just consuming technology but using it to innovate, express ideas, and make sense of an ever-evolving digital landscape.
