At Northbridge International School Cambodia (NISC), learning is designed to go beyond the classroom. Through exclusive global and local programmes, NISC students develop the perspective, resilience, and leadership skills that set them apart among international schools in Phnom Penh. This commitment to excellence is exemplified by the school’s outstanding success at the World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) Phnom Penh 2026.
The World Scholar’s Cup is a globally recognised academic competition that promotes teamwork, critical thinking, and global awareness. Held over three inspiring days at Koh Pich Theatre, the Phnom Penh round brought together thousands of students aged 10–18 from international schools worldwide. Participants engaged in a dynamic series of events, including debates, collaborative writing, quizzes, and team-based challenges, all centred around a shared global theme spanning disciplines such as history, science, and literature.
NISC students rose to the challenge with confidence and ambition. Representing the school were one Primary team and an impressive 16 Secondary teams, each demonstrating exceptional collaboration, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. Their results were remarkable, a total of 219 medals, including 123 gold and 96 silver, along with 8 trophies, an extraordinary achievement that highlights both academic excellence and the strength of NISC’s holistic approach to education.
Reflecting on the experience, Mr Pritesh Parekh, MYP and DP English Teacher and Grade 9 Grade Level Lead, shared:
“I had the privilege of supervising our students at the WSC. It was wonderful to see how the experience inspired such drive and helped build confidence in every single student who took part.”
This success goes beyond medals. It reflects the school’s focus on developing well-rounded learners who can think critically, communicate effectively, and collaborate across cultures. Events like the World Scholar’s Cup encourage students to explore complex global issues, defend their ideas, and work as part of a team, essential skills for success in an interconnected world.
NISC’s achievement continues on the global stage, with 15 teams qualifying for the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round in Kuala Lumpur. This next step places NISC students among the top scholars worldwide and provides an even greater platform to engage with peers from across the globe. The highest-performing teams from these rounds will go on to the prestigious Tournament of Champions at Yale University in the United States later this year, an inspiring opportunity that reflects the global pathways available to NISC students.
Participation in the World Scholar’s Cup is a powerful example of how Nord Anglia Education schools, including NISC, empower students to succeed anywhere in the world. Through meaningful global experiences, students gain confidence, adaptability, and a lifelong love of learning.
As NISC celebrates this exceptional achievement, the school community looks ahead with pride and excitement. With their talent, determination, and global outlook, NISC students continue to prove that learning has no boundaries, and their future has no limits.
