At Northbridge International School Cambodia (NISC), part of Nord Anglia Education, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Through exclusive global and regional programmes, NISC students develop the perspective, resilience, and leadership skills that distinguish them among international schools in Phnom Penh. The 2026 Global Expeditions programme reflects this commitment, offering transformative experiences from the Swiss Alps to the plains of East Africa.

Switzerland Trekking Expedition

Set in the heart of the Swiss Alps, this unforgettable trekking experience immerses students in one of Europe’s most breathtaking landscapes. Highlights include exploring the charming town of Gruyère, famous for its world-renowned cheese and chocolate, and visiting Glacier 3000, where students enjoy spectacular alpine views. Blending outdoor adventure with cultural discovery, this expedition fosters independence, curiosity, and an appreciation for global environments.

This year, nine students have been selected for the expedition and are already looking forward to beginning their training after the summer break. One of our recent graduates, who had the opportunity to take part in this trek when it was first introduced, shared this reflection:

“I remember the trekking expedition to Switzerland in Grade 6. It was a really fun experience and such a nice stay overall. The hikes were really enjoyable, and the place we stayed was cozy and warm. I also remember the food being really good.

One core memory I will always remember is playing Mafia together in the evenings. The people on the trip, including the teachers, made it even better. Everyone was great to be around, and it was such a fun group.”
Rachiv, Grade 12

Switzerland Snowsports Experience

For students seeking challenge and excitement, the Switzerland Snowsports Experience offers full days of skiing and snowboarding in world-class resorts. Beyond the slopes, students engage in cultural activities, including a visit to Gruyère, and take part in a biathlon-style challenge. This experience builds resilience, teamwork, and confidence, encouraging students to step outside their comfort zones in a supportive international setting.

This year, 24 students have been selected for the expedition and are excited to begin training after the summer break. This will be the third time NISC has offered this experience. Here are reflections from previous participants:

Grace, 10C: “I think the ski trip was a very fun experience and a great opportunity to bond with my friends. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot and would definitely do it again.”

Ling, 8A: “I liked the challenge of the different slopes. They allowed me to see my improvement over the week.”

Allen, 8A: “I made lots of new friends on the trip, including students from Shanghai.”

Lina, 8C: “Visiting Gruyère in the snow and breaking off hanging icicles from the walls was amazing.”

Samuel, 9B: “It was so good, I wish I could go again.”

Tanzania Rift Valley Expedition

NISC’s most immersive expedition takes students to the heart of East Africa for a life-changing journey. The Tanzania Rift Valley Expedition includes a two-day wildlife safari, offering close encounters with Africa’s incredible biodiversity. Students also work alongside the Maasai community on sustainability projects such as planting, harvesting, and drip irrigation, developing empathy, responsibility, and global citizenship. Visits to Lake Natron, home to vibrant flamingos, and historic sites with some of the earliest human footprints bring learning to life in powerful ways.

This year, eight students have been selected for the expedition and are looking forward to starting their training after the summer break.

Mr Manuel:
“That day at dawn, after learning that a group of giraffes is called a tower, we saw a group of more than 22 giraffes, including at least five young ones, on our way to the campsite. We stopped for about 20 minutes, watching them eat and play as the sun set on the horizon. It was simply magical.”

Sivheng:
“Going on the expedition brought me so much joy and excitement. Witnessing the beautiful landscapes and environment was a delightful experience. Being present in those moments, bonding and sharing laughter with people in Tanzania, warmed my heart. It is something I will always cherish.”

Developing Globally Minded Leaders

These Nord Anglia expeditions are more than travel experiences. They are designed to develop well-rounded, future-ready students. Participants build critical thinking, adaptability, and perseverance while learning to collaborate across cultures. Whether navigating alpine terrain or contributing to community projects in Tanzania, students develop leadership skills and a global mindset that will serve them for life.

At NISC, these international opportunities reflect a commitment to personalised, experiential learning. Students return not only with unforgettable memories, but also with greater confidence, maturity, and a clearer understanding of their place in the world.
