Celebrating one of our IGCSE 2019 highest achievers, Ali. Below Ali shares his thoughts about completing the course and his achievements:
How was your experience doing IGCSEs in BIS Abu Dhabi?
I had a wonderful experience doing my IGCSEs in this school, thanks to the wide array of support I received from both my teachers and peers. Although there were lengthy periods of strenuous work and sacrifices leading up the exams, I managed to pull through and made all that time worth it.
In terms of advice I would give to the Year 11’s and 10’s, there are a few key points. You should try and complete your coursework by the beginning of Year 11, so you have enough time to focus solely on your exams. This is also a huge factor in your grade, as a good coursework mark gives you an edge in determining the final grade. Also, for the final exam, do as many past papers as possible, and highlight and write down corrections for the mistakes you made. In my opinion, past papers are the best way to prepare for the finals.
Are you happy with your results?
Despite the difficulties that sprung in both subjects that weren’t my best and that I was strong in, through perseverance and consistency, I achieved grades that I am extremely proud of. I am elated at my results in the Sciences and am incredibly grateful and proud of my achievement in English and Economics, as those were my weaker subjects, but I improved tremendously.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m aspiring to study Medicine; although the field is very competitive, I trust that my results prove my ability to succeed in it. My growing interest in Biology and my already high interest in Chemistry are my driving force in achieving this dream.
