Hi, I’m Tom, the Outdoor Education Coordinator and I work across the school to help set-up BIS Abu Dhabi’s exciting range of trips and visits, from Fossil Rock to Spain and all the way to Tanzania! It’s an exciting role and one that enables me to see the huge benefits that these educational trips can have on our students. I am also an Award Leader for the schools Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme which is also hugely beneficial.
I am originally from the UK and spent most of my life living there. I met my partner around 10 years a go now and we got married in May this year in the beautiful Lake District in England. My wife also works at BIS Abu Dhabi and is part of the Year 2 team and we are very excited to make the UAE our home.
Most of me free time is spent travelling and taking photos along the way. I have travelled to over 50 countries and the had the opportunity to meet some amazing people, who are now good friends. My wife and I decided to take a year out from work in 2012 and go travelling for a whole year – I guess you could call it a delayed gap-year! This time away from home and being immersed in different cultures really made me, not only appreciate the world we live in, but it also taught me so much and kick started my desire to travel.
We have many trips planned going forward and being based here in Abu Dhabi makes it extremely easy to get some stunning locations!
In my spare time, I am also a semi-professional photographer and frequently work with brands that need content creating, whether it’s a hotel or a watch brand or even a family photo session! Travelling and photography go together so perfectly, which makes my two hobbies more of a passion! I am very eager to explore more of the UAE and capture its beauty through the camera.
