BIS AD Buddies-bis-ad-buddies-Year 7 b Inspired by the ethos of Ramadan and the Red Crescent’s 'boxes for the workers' initiative, Student Service Leaders at The British International School decided that it would be a nice idea if students in our school showed their appreciation and got to know our support staff better.

In the lead up to Ramadan, the Kindness Crew Service Leaders paired a member of our support staff team, with a class across the school from Foundation Stages all the way up to Year 13.

Our support staff team drive our buses, clean, cook, work in maintenance or security for our school. Some classes were lucky enough to even be assigned two buddies, as we have such a big team of support staff here.

Each class then invited their BIS AD buddy in to class to meet with them, so they could get to know them a bit better.

It was really inspiring to share stories about where we are from and what different people do in our school to support students’ learning each day. It was also great that we now know so many more people by name to say ‘hello’ and ‘good morning’ to each day.

In Ramadan (the month of giving) each class made an 'appreciation box' for their BIS AD Staff Buddy. The box was designed by one of our talented art students, Jalilah, in Year 9. The appreciation box was an opportunity to give our buddy some small, thoughtful and personalised gifts, inspired by what we learned about them and the chance to say  a big 'thank you’ to all our support team, who make our every day, an even better day!

Thank you too to all students, parents and staff who supported our initiative.
