Football

The Varsity Girls Football team had their first competitive BISAC game of the season last week. With, teamwork, strong passing and constant communication, we were able to snatch our first win of the season. With such adrenaline and enthusiasm, we hope to carry the same positive attitude in our coming games throughout the season.

BISAC Season 1 conclusion

The BISAC tournaments are starting with Varsity Volleyball and Football this weekend, followed by the rest on Saturday 3rd November.

We’ll next be heading for Season 2: U13/U15 Football, Varsity Basketball, Varsity Rugby & Tennis.

Tennis

Last week saw a triple header of Tennis for our U13 players. On Monday we travelled to Harrow, followed by a trip to Bangkok Patana on Thursday for our BISAC Team Fixture. Saturday was the U13 BISAC singles event with 16 of our players participating in different draws. A special mention to Yuzu & Kla who finished 2nd and 3rd in their respective events and Tyler & Tegh who were facing each other in a final that was cut short because of the rain! It is great to see all of our players developing their game variety, decision making and winning shots as they use these competitive opportunities as a great learning experience.

Upcoming Events

We’re pleased to announce a new event in our calendar, the Friday Night Game. This will start with our Varsity ballers taking on some local rivals in an evening tip-off game. There’ll be music, dance, popcorn, skills challenges, a half-court shot comp and plenty of loud support in the bleachers, we hope.

The event will be ticketed and is open to our community who fancy cheering on our oldest and best Flames ballers in the school! More details to follow.

We also have our own Flames U13 3on3 Basketball Tournament on Saturday 6 October.

3on3 basketball is a game played with one hoop and which is very exciting, as there is constant action. We have several teams coming from other schools as well as an academy.

Team details will follow shortly.

Parent Activities

We actively encourage our amazing parent body to be involved with us and keep fit. This sends a wonderful message to our students about leading healthy, active lifestyles both as children and as adults.

In collaboration with the PTG, we offer organised sessions covering a range of sports and activities at school, using our facilities. These include volleyball, yoga, fitness, swimming, running, Zumba, tennis. Some of these are run by our own staff and others are run by external staff.

Details about these will be sent to you and sign-ups are on Moodle, just as for ECAs. Key personnel will be Ann, who has children at High School and will be the parent liaison for this; and Miss Aanchal, in the High School Office (Front Desk) aanchal.mi@standrews.ac.th

We love seeing parents work out during the day on campus - please come and join our active social circle.

(PS Volleyball is represented by our own Spicey Spikers, who even play against our girl’s team each term. Having lost some players last term, they’re now looking for new members. No need to be experienced - it’s all a bit of fun! Please contact Miss Jo (jo.fa@standrews.ac.th. First session is at HS tomorrow, 21 August at 2.45pm).
