Primary children have again been hard at work representing St Andrews International School Bangkok in basketball, football, tennis and swimming.

We are coming to the end of a long first half term with so many positive experiences for our children. The children will be moving onto their second sport after the half term break and new challenges will come their way. We have still basketball fixtures coming up with the visit from Patana on Tuesday and then more TISAC basketball on Thursday.

After the break we look forward to two major trips with the NAE Games and Phuket 7s Football. The NAE Games, which this year will be held in Cambodia, is an exciting expanding tournament with now 8 NAE schools involved. The Phuket tournament will be the first time we take an U9 girls team and also have our boys U9/U11 going to enjoy the 2-day football tournament. These trips are fantastic not only for the children to part of a team, but also to develop their independence and confidence away from school life.

Basketball

The U11 Girls played their second TISAC game and staged a brilliant comeback but unfortunately, lost by 1 point. The girls continue to improve and games are coming up thick and fast with 2 games next week against Bangkok Patana and St Andrews Sathorn.

Football

After the exploits of our U9 teams at Harrow a couple of weeks ago it was now the U11 footballers’ turn. Our children went to Shrewsbury to play a three-way friendly with Shrewsbury and Harrow. It was great to see over 40 children playing sport and enjoying competing for St Andrews International School Bangkok. It was also fantastic to see some children playing football for STA for the very first time. In total that is over 100 of our footballers that have now played competitive games for STA.

Swimming

Well done to all the Primary children who competed at Patana on Saturday in the the Tigersharks Sprint Challenge. This was a friendly event, but our swimmers nonetheless showed their competitive spirit with some awesome performances and personal bests being achieved.

Tennis

This week was the turn of our  youngest Primary students who travelled to Bangkok Patana for their U9 Mini Tennis festival. It was excellent to see our youngest players in action with lots of smiles on court. There was also the chance for some match practice in a friendly event with Bangkok Patana on Friday night where 15 of our players took part representing 4 different age categories!  Well done to all the children who were representing STA for the first time.

If you would like to get involved in our tennis programme we have lots of opportunities available for all players. Please contact Coach Pair at pair.ch@standrews.ac.th for more information.
