Loi Krathong celebrations at St Andrews International School Bangkok were a unique cultural showcase.

Loi Krathong

This morning we celebrated Loi Krathong, with an assembly in the Atrium during Break. The Assembly included performances from our Thai classical music club, our Thai Dance Club and a fantastic Pong Lang band from Kalasin College of Dramatic Arts who played as we all joined in for the Rum Wong Loi Krathong Dance.

The fun continued during both KS3 and KS4/5 lunches, when students could create and float krathongs, as well as playing Thai games and buying Thai snacks and handicraft goods made by Thai students learning at the Anuban Mae Fha Luang School in Chiang Rai.

A lovely way to both celebrate the end of the rainy season and float away misfortune and negative emotions from the last year.

NAE Senior Leadership Programme

Last week we were very pleased to welcome 30 participants from NAE schools and offices all over the world, including Andy Puttock, NAE’s Director of Education, back to St Andrews for the second Residential of this year’s Senior Leadership Programme. The photo above was taken during their first Residential in February/March.

As in February/March, the delegates were very complimentary about our students, facilities, atmosphere and the variety and quality of food served in the Canteen, where they ate with the students all week.

CIS Evaluation of Yew Chung International School of Beijing

Next week it is my turn to visit another school, as I will be travelling to Beijing as Co-Chair of the CIS Evaluation of Yew Chung International School of Beijing.

As an educator, it is always a privilege, and a very enjoyable and thought-provoking experience, to be able to immerse yourself in another school for a week and I am sure that the visit will give me plenty to think about.
