My strong passion and appetite for Early Years education began in 2011 when I started my degree, Education Studies with Early Years. During my studies, my eyes were opened to different theories and systems of education both in the UK and internationally. My personal pedagogy of education lies on the belief that education ought to provide children with the building blocks to become authors of their own learning through self-discovery and free investigation. After qualifying as a teacher, my first role was in a Foundation 2 class in Liverpool, UK, where I loved changing the classroom regularly to provide the children with awe and wonder. It is important to me that children want to go to school and learn within a safe, stimulating and inspiring environment. After teaching in the UK, I moved to Shanghai, China to take on a new challenge and learn more about International teaching. I spent most of my holidays travelling to Thailand and quickly realised that Thailand felt like home!
In my spare time I love to travel, visit different countries and experience different cultures. I enjoy children’s literature, of which my collection is getting quite extensive and I have a love (addiction!) to shopping. I also enjoy spending time with my puppy, Buster and kitten, Indie!
I have almost completed my first year of teaching in St Andrews International School and it has been my favourite teaching post to date. There is such a strong and supportive Early Years team and I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of it. As a team we have received a lot of professional development and we are always striving to grow, develop and provide the best education we can for each child.
