I joined the staff at St Andrews International School Bangkok in 2005, teaching in a variety of roles as the school has evolved. Having studied History at Cambridge University and taught the subject in several schools in the UK and Asia, I am glad to have re-joined the History department teaching across the High School. The skills and insights of History seem more important and relevant today than ever and I enjoy the challenge of keeping the subject exciting and accessible for all students.
After qualifying as a teacher at London University’s Institute of Education back in the 80’s, I taught in a variety of schools in the UK as a Head of Department, Deputy Head and Key Stage Leader before moving abroad to teach in Kathmandu, Nepal in 1994. I have been in Thailand since 1999, which is long enough to consider Bangkok my home and a place I never get tired of living in. Like most expat teachers I enjoy travelling but also writing, film making and driving my Vespa.
I have seen St Andrews come a long way over the years and I have enjoyed seeing it develop into the special place it has become. I look forward to seeing the continued evolution of that small school I joined more than a decade ago into the successful and supportive community it has become.
