As a Sports and Exercise Science Graduate from the University of Exeter I have been rewarded with many opportunities in my career so far. I have had the privilege to work and travel to many places around the world including Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Qatar, Egypt and now Thailand making me a truly global citizen. My professional experience ranges from managing population health initiatives as the Physical Activity Manager for the Heart Foundation in Western Australia to working on elite sports events to grass roots sports development. This has included the establishment of inter-school sports for students with intellectual disabilities in New Zealand and in Australia engaging inactive children in physical activity through non-traditional sports and activities.
However, my passion lies in teaching and learning and being part of individual change. The greatest part of being a PE teacher is being able to share that passion and inspire others to try new sports, learn and refine skills and increase knowledge. Physical Education and sport have so many benefits beyond the physical including building confidence and self-esteem, friendships and improving academic performance. I joined St Andrews International School Bangkok in 2018.
I am happily married to Alex who is from New Zealand and we have two children who attend St Andrews Primary School. I have played many competitive sports including representative level swimming, rugby union and touch rugby. I love to be physically activity and have enjoyed in recent years improving my kayaking and snowboarding skills!
I love to cook (when I have time) and travel and look forward to sampling many of the amazing restaurants in Bangkok and Thailand.
My days at St Andrews are so diverse. In a single day I can be teaching athletics to Year 7's, dance to Year 8's, GCSE PE to Year 10's as well as IB Sport Science to Year 12's and then coaching a sports team after school. I love the variety! I also love the positive attitude and culture the students and staff have which helps support bringing out the best in the individual learner.
