A lifelong ‘communicator’ at heart, I graduated from The College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Corporate and Organizational Communication. Upon graduating, I spent the next five years in our nation’s capital as a Congressional aide. There, I served in a multitude of press and communications roles, including serving as Director of New Media and eventually Communications Director for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, DC. My heart, however, yearned for home and I returned to my native North Carolina to explore life outside of politics. I’m so thrilled that my journey has brought me here to BISC!
Prior to joining BISC, I served as a Communications Assistant at a boutique marketing firm, where I managed public relations and social media marketing on behalf of Charlotte area businesses in the dental and food & beverage industries. I also have experience as a freelance public relations practitioner in the retail business sector.
My passion lies in both writing and digital media, and I’m constantly working to ‘hone my craft’. Outside of work, I’m a slightly obsessive (American) football fan; on fall Saturdays, you can typically find me in Death Valley Stadium cheering on my Clemson Tigers. I’m also an avid reader and, otherwise, love to spend my free time exploring all that the Queen City has to offer.
From a young age, my parents instilled in me a love for travel that burns eternal. I’ve been fortunate to travel to other countries with parents who ingrained in me the mindset that the world is a vast one, full of diversity of opportunity- and one that extends way beyond the safe confines of what we know as home. I take pride in the fact that - as the only International School in the Charlotte region - our students are constantly immersed in cultural opportunities when they grace the halls each day: an experience that is truly invaluable.
The change from working in politics to collaborating with children has been a welcome and eye-opening one. Children - and specifically the young minds of this school - are incredibly bright and perceptive, and it’s been a true joy seeing the world through their eyes as they learn, grow and innovate right before you. Not to mention, the level of personalization that this school pays its own is a sight to behold. Every day, I am reminded by a simple exchange that our teachers truly know the students they lead. Each member of our staff lovingly takes the time to embrace all of the qualities that make each individual child unique... and just that: individual.
Quite simply: BISC is special, and our family has a unique story to tell. As a member of this special community, I feel incredibly honored to help share that story. Because it is a story worth telling.
