Teaching is a job I feel passionately about. Even now, over ten years since qualifying, I still love it and can’t imagine doing anything else. I studied my degree in Primary Teaching, specialising in Maths and French. As part of my studies, I spent a month teaching English in a French school, where I learnt a huge amount about teaching a foreign language and was fully immersed in the local culture. After finishing my degree, I taught for ten years at a primary school in England, enjoying teaching in all year groups from 1 to 5. During the last three years, I led Maths in the school and supported school development as part of the Senior Leadership Team. Maths is definitely a subject I feel passionately about, especially making all children feel engaged and challenged.
This is my second year at the British International School of Charlotte and I have loved getting to know everyone, particularly all the children and families in my class. I feel that our children benefit hugely from the small class sizes and receiving a highly personalized education, which means they get so enthused and motivated by their learning...there really does feel like there are no limits to what we can try or achieve. The sense of community here is unique and it feels like one big family, of which I've been made to feel very welcome.
