Maggie Milford

Learning Support Assistant, Year 2/3

A U.S. citizen by birth, I grew up in Rugby, England, UK. I have a B.A. in Business Administration from Coventry University, 1993. In 2006, my family (husband and three children: aged 11, 9 and 4 years at that time) relocated to Basel, Switzerland. During that time, I studied for a Certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) with TEYL (Teaching English to Young Learners). I managed to secure a position as a Teaching Assistant at a privately-owned English-speaking preschool, where our emphasis was on Jolly phonics. In 2011, we relocated again to Charlotte. Upon arrival to the USA, I took time out of education to settle my family. In August 2015, I returned to education as a Teaching Assistant in the Foundation Stage at the British International School of Charlotte. I worked alongside the Lead Teacher in the Foundation 1 Class, ages 3-4 years. After taking a year out from teaching in 2017, I realized that I missed the classroom environment and the BISC family. In August 2018, I returned to the school as a Teaching Assistant for the Primary school.
