Katy (West of Houston)
Cinco Ranch is the biggest of the communities in the Katy area. Residents enjoy 20 miles of walking trails, pools, splash pads, tennis courts, parks, a boating lake, volleyball courts, and a discounted golf club. Housing covers all budgets and price ranges. Commuters have good access to the Energy Corridor, the Galleria, and downtown by way of IH10 and the Westpark Tollway.
Lakes on Eldridge, LOE North, Twin Lakes (NW Houston)
A group of three communities with easy access to the Energy Corridor and only a 15 minute drive to everything and anything you'd want by way of several major thoroughfares. This area has a mix of expats and Americans and offers a range of incomes and house sizes.
Memorial/Energy Corridor (West Houston)
This is an expensive area with multiple 'villages' and subdivisions. Commuting will generally not be a problem. The houses are often unique and within established neighborhoods.
Cypress (Northwest of Houston)
A growing area and you get more for your money here than in Katy or Sugar Land but it doesn’t have the same ‘center’ and amenities as these places. There are several master planned communities which are still under development. Traffic commute to and from downtown is a downside pending completion of the 290 expansion, and can take over an hour during peak travel times.
The Woodlands (North of Houston)
A large, master planned community that is designed to be self-sufficient. A 90 minute commute each way to Houston with high budget housing, but you do get a lot for your money.
Just outside “the loop”. This area offers an upscale, urban feel with condos and high-rises at considerable cost and is known for its exclusive living and shopping. Easy access to many Houston locations is possible, but it is notorious for heavy traffic.
Just inside “the loop” north of IH10. A trendy, central location in Houston with a neighborhood feel. Homes here are small and pricey, but it is one of the few places you can access shopping and dining on foot.
West U/Rice Village
Inside “the loop” south of Hwy 59. This area offers a European feel with older houses and the ability to walk to some places. An expensive location, with easy access to downtown, the Galleria, and the Medical Center.
Sugar Land (Southwest of Houston)
Main route into Houston is Hwy 59. One of the most ethnically and religiously diverse suburbs in the nation. Many subdivisions and amenities are available covering a range of budgets, and it is well-positioned for access to the Galleria and the Medical Center. Commute to and from downtown can take over an hour.
