Director of Student Life

After graduating with honors with a degree in English Literature, I began teaching in the Katy Independent School District in 2003. I held various teaching and coaching positions for six years, focusing mostly on honors coursework in high school. Then, I joined the English faculty of Lone Star College while completing my graduate degree in International Studies with an emphasis in Literature.

While I enjoyed teaching at the university level, I missed the spirit of secondary education and joined a very large, private high school where I served for seven years as the Director of Development. I am currently completing my final weeks of coursework for my doctoral degree in Ethics and Leadership and will defend my dissertation proposal in the coming months.

Growing up right here in Katy, Texas, it is with great excitement that I am helping to build a deep and lasting relationship between our local community and the British International School of Houston. By developing a culture of service learning, we will look to form local connections that will last for many years to come. I am also passionate about the formation of our MIT links and connecting with our local MIT Houston chapter, which has thousands of members. Reaching into our local businesses, sports organizations, non-profits, and government entities, we can connect to almost unlimited resources to support the learning in our school.  These connections are invaluable to our learning community, and I am proud to be a part of that growth and continuity.

My husband, Brian, and I both enjoy traveling with our sons, Clay and Travis. We also love everything outdoors and are currently building a full-size treehouse complete with a kitchen for our weekends in the countryside. I love sports with a deep and lifelong passion, but my absolute favorite endeavor is triathlon.  I have completed two marathons and a half Ironman (1900 meter swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run).  I may not be the fastest person on the course, but I race with great joy!
