After my degree, I moved to the University of Worcester to gain my PGCE in Primary Education, where I also specialised in Physical Education. Following my PGCE, I was employed as a Year 4 class teacher at a school in Wolverhampton. I held coordinator roles in Geography and Forest School. Here, I developed the school’s Outdoor Education programme, renovating outdoor learning environments. Successfully, I created opportunities for inner city students to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences through the outdoors. After my first 2 years teaching, I became Phase Leader for Lower Key Stage 2 before joining British International School of Houston.
I have been teaching at BISH since 2016 holding class teacher roles in Years 4, 5 and 6. The philosophy of the school is perfectly in line with my own. There are no boundaries to how much a child can achieve. Our unique facility and personalised approach to education, I feel fosters a love for learning and cultivates ambitious students.
Texas is not the first place I have lived in the United States. Over a five-year spell, I worked as a Water Sports Director and an Outdoor Educator in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. In these roles, my hobbies became my job. I met many marvelous people in the U.S from all corners of the globe. I knew then, I wanted to live and work abroad permanently. In my free time, you’ll find me visiting new places and keeping active. I play football and support the Claret and Blue of Aston Villa.
What my students say about me
He is nice and intelligent. He’s fair and sometimes absolutely hilarious!
I really enjoy all the laughter that we have together as a class. We have so much fun when he makes jokes. In my opinion, I think he is a great teacher. In the future, new children will really like having him as a teacher.
Mr. Pearce is a kind, funny and intelligent teacher who I can trust. Anytime I need help, he is always able to help me. He always makes lessons fun and makes us interested on what we are learning about. He is definitely a great teacher!
