I had lived all my life in the UK, studying both my degree and PGCE at the University of Worcester. After gaining my PGCE in 2010, I taught at a Primary School on the outskirts of Birmingham for three years. During that time, I taught in Year 6 and held the post of ICT Co-ordinator.
Houston was a city that I had never visited, but the more I read about it, the more I knew it would be somewhere I would enjoy working and living. I was right!
I love football (soccer) and have played it competitively since I was 9. I still get a great thrill from playing, even if it is now in the heat of Houston! The team I follow is West Bromwich Albion, so unfortunately I don’t get the same thrill from the results every Saturday. Golf is my main hobby and one of my aspirations in life is to get my handicap down to single digits. Aside from school and sport, I enjoy spending time with my friends, my fiancée and our dog Cooper.
What the students say about me...
“Mr Franklin is really fun and cool and he makes us laugh a lot.”
“I like Mr Franklin because he is very kind, funny and his smile cheers me up.”
“I like Mr Franklin because he likes FIFA!”
This school is different to all others I have worked at because…
The diverse range of cultures, religions, ethnicities and nationalities makes it an ever changing and dynamic place to work. Plus, the weather is better than Birmingham!
