To better accommodate the needs of our family, I readjusted my professional goals and interests. Having worked as a tutor during most of my high school and university years, I rediscovered my passion for teaching. I provided learning support to primary and secondary students attending IB-schools in Denmark and Austria, as well as students in American private schools, and retrained and completed my certification as a teacher of the German language with the Goethe Institute, Germany. I have been teaching all German language levels corresponding to the levels of the “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages” to children and adults as a private tutor and at the German Institute for the Southwest in Houston. I have been a teacher for German Mother Tongue at BISH since the programme started as an enrichment and CCA - course in 2017. I am very much looking forward to working with our IB students this year, and I am extremely excited that German Mother Tongue is now incorporated into the curricula of primary school and middle school at BISH.
My husband and I have two sons, who are also students at BISH. Whenever time allows, we love to travel. Our current project is to make it to all 50 state capitols. At home, I am often found working in my yard or fully engaged in some home improvement project. I also enjoy reading and crochet.
What the students say about me
“Learning with Mrs. Gronister is fun! She knows games, nobody has ever heard of.”
“I would have never passed these standardized tests without her. She helped me to be more organized and structured in my learning.”
This school is different to all others I have worked at because…
As soon as you enter the school you are touched by the warm, open-minded, positive and invigorating spirit of the whole school’s community.
