I have always believed that the arts are essential in developing the full potential of all children. As well as a valuable tool for celebrating cultural diversity, they are fundamental in enhancing a student’s emotional, social and academic skills. Extra- curricular activities are something I whole heartedly believe in as they spark passion and creativity in young people as well as developing character and personality. I am pleased to be a part of the vibrant performance scene at the British International School of Houston.
Last year, I gained an MA in Action Research: Teaching and Learning and continue to use research as part of my teaching. I take a particular interest in how strategies directly impact on student’s progress, motivation and ultimately, their interest in the arts. I look forward to continuing to develop my professional skills with an international angle at the British International School of Houston.
As a classically trained singer, I continue to build upon my skills as a musician. I enjoy a wide variety of music and work with a number of choral societies and groups, both as a soloist and chorus member. Alongside teaching, my main passion is for developing and conducting choirs and ensembles in schools and the wider community. I also love baking (which is often a bonus for the students I teach.)
I have come to Houston with my husband, Dillon and sons Henry, 6 and Toby, 2. As a family, we enjoy exploring new places so this adventure to Texas is perfect for us!
