I completed my BA in Modern and Contemporary History at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London. I pursued my love of literature and went on to complete my PGCE in Secondary English at the University of Nottingham. This is also where I completed my MA in Education. Still passionate about English, I am currently studying for my MA in English Literature.
I join BSKL from another school in Malaysia and have lived here for seven years. I have gained extensive experience of IGCSE across a range of exam boards and also the IB Diploma curriculum. I look forward to adding to the holistic approach of BSKL, supported by my middle leadership experience as Head of IB (Pastoral) and Mentoring Coordinator. Prior to living in Malaysia, I taught at a school in Nottingham where I was also appointed Head of Year 11.
A keen reader from an early age, I have always considered education as the basis for a fulfilling life and this led me to the classroom. I believe that the English classroom provides an environment for students to explore and connect with a variety of ideas and perspectives that seek to enrich all of our lives. This belief drives my focus on engaging learners in a co-constructivist and positive learning environment - one that nurtures self-efficacy and empathy. I join the BSKL community with my wife, two children, and our dog, Noodles. I enjoy bouldering, boxing and challenging my culinary limits.
In my role as Head of English, I aim to make every student feel welcome through valuing student voice and perspectives. This is achieved through a curriculum that inspires, challenges and supports students.
