Secondary Deputy Head (Pastoral) & Geography Teacher
Steven has been in working in Secondary Schools for the last 10 years. He began his career Halifax (UK) working as part of the special educational needs team.
Following the completion of his PGCE in the subject of Geography, Steven spent four years teaching GCSE and A-level students in West Yorkshire before moving to The British International School of Kuala Lumpur.
Steven now oversees the Pastoral provision at BSKL, he is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all of our Secondary students.

Head of Key Stage 3 & Geography Teacher
Matt has been teaching Geography in the UK for the past 3 years, prior to this he also spent time on a business graduate scheme with a large retailer as well as various different educational roles. In the UK, as a Lead Teacher Coordinator, Matt was responsible for sharing of good practice at a whole school level. Matt has also spent time volunteering in different parts of Africa and as such aims to promote the learning of Geography by utilizing real life experience to enhance understanding.

Nikhil taught Mathematics in the UK for 5 years, prior to coming to BSKL. In the UK Nikhil began his career at Holmes Chapel (an OFSTED Outstanding School) where he was able to develop best practise of assessment across the school. He came from a responsibility as Assessment Coordinator where he was able to significantly improve the A Level results through careful monitoring of pupil progress and ensuring suitable interventions were put into place. Nikhil has experience of coaching teachers to develop their practice and using Lesson Study which gives teachers the opportunity to work collaboratively, discuss, learn and reflect to improve their on practice. Nikhil has run a variety of educational trips and appreciates the well rounded education that these trips provide and the way they enrich students lives.

Katie has worked as a Media and English teacher for 8 years in an Ofsted Outstanding Secondary school in Wiltshire; teaching all years as well as A level Media Studies and Literature. She was also in charge of whole school transition from KS2-KS3, a role which she thoroughly enjoyed. She moved to Malaysia with her family and is looking forward to experiencing life at BSKL and exploring all that Malaysia has to offer.

Sonny gained a Mathematics degree from the University of Nottingham, and worked in corporate banking in Canary Wharf for 3 years before completing teacher training through Teach First in Ipswich. During his time teaching in comprehensive and private schools, Sonny has taught key stages 3,4 and 5 Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Statistics, and co-ordinated several successful entries into UKMT and International Maths Challenges.
